Crafting in Wonderland: almost cute

I made this tutu-ish skirt today so that I can practice cutting out fabric for circle skirts. Cutting was easy, but sewing a curved seam is crazy. And it only got harder when I started pinning the elastic the the inner circle. I'm considering taking sewing lessons. lol.

It didn't turn out too bad though. I definitely need more practice, but it could have been worse. :P At least I got the formula down for cutting out the circle.

Last night I harnessed the power of my one step button hole function on my new sewing machine! Amazing feature. Maybe I should have used buttons instead of elastic.

Oh well. I'm off to find some tips on sewing curved seams.

Wish me luck.

Life in Wonderland: Cookies for Viva

Aren't they cute?

I think the icing kind of freaks her out though. It takes her a while to finish one.

Viewed in Wonderland: Hachiko

Warning: If you have a dog this will probably make you cry!

Here are two versions of a true story. The first one is just clips set to music from a 1987 Japanese film and the second one is the trailer for a 2009 american version.

Life in Wonderland: Sugar high

I've had sugar on the brain for the last few weeks. I've been painting cupcakes, ice cream cones and lollipops. strange. So a couple weeks ago Nella and Tess came over to bake cupcakes. Nel and I had purchased a box mix, but Tessa Homemaker had other plans for us. She brought a recipe and the ingredients for chocalate chip and peanut butter cupcakes. I have one not so large mixing bowl in my kitchen so she had to use a pot to mix the cup cake batter in. It was hilarious. Most of the smaller measurements were done by eye so the icing turned out pretty interesting. :P It was a great night though. Can't wait to do it again!

Growing in Wonderland: The results

I actually "harvested" my sprouts a couple weeks ago, but neglected to post the results. Sorry. They actually turned out really well. Next time I think I'll put in less beans so they have more room to grow.

Here it is! That's a lot of bean sprouts huh?

I used them to top the beef curry I made. :) Oishi!!!

Allan's mom found a special on mason jars on base. So now I have 10 new jars to grow sprouts in. I think I'm actually going to use some jars to make biscuit mixes though.

Cast in Wonderland: I'm a comet!!!

I have three incredible nephews. Yesterday I got to hang out with all three boys for a bit. Kane, the middle one, has a crap-ton of energy and soooo much personality. It started out with him on the couch doing a little contortionist act, turning his body into shapes. He was a square, star, triangle, and even a circle. He got a bit confused when I asked if he could be a rectangle, but then realized it was the easiest. :P Later on he threw his arms back and ran around my parents tiny living room declaring "I'm a comet . . . boom boom!" He then ran in to his older brother, Mikey. "Comet landed on you!"

I love them! They're sooo freaking adorable and funny.
